When the social media boom first began to take off, back in 2005, businesses originally missed the boat. But by 2006/2007, the boat came back around to pick everyone up. Beginning in 2007, under the idea of the “social web” companies began redesigning websites to make content more “engaging”. Since then, the term “engagement” has been a major buzz word in the analytics industry. Today, in the “give it to me now because I must multitask and always stay busy” age, a website must be engaging if it has any hope of keeping the attention of the millions of visitors who browse the Internet on a daily basis.
